Transitioning Off Keto – Day 9

This is Day 9 of transitioning off my Keto Diet.

Cow’s Milk & Lattes

While I was on my Keto Diet, I was curious to know whether cow’s milk was affecting my body, if at all. I’ve always loved dairy. I’ve been eating butter, milk and cream as part of my Keto Diet, but have stayed away from cow’s milk because 0f the high carbs content. I’ve been using almond milk instead, which I find insipid, but not unpleasant – perhaps made more insipid because I drink the unsweetened variety.

I don’t have almond milk in my coffee though. It certainly doesn’t compare to cow’s milk, and one thing I wanted just as much as fruit while on my Keto Diet, was a full cream latte. And I’ve had a few recently. I’ve gone for a smaller size latte, because I’m still conscious of not eating too many carbs, especially in the form of sugars. And one cup of cow’s milk contains about 12g of carbs in the form of sugars.

Day 26

It’s Day 26 of my Keto Diet.

I hit an emotional wall the other day. Nothing to do with my Diet as far as I know.

Spa & Massage

With a day off work, and at the suggestion of a friend, I went to  place called Kiva Spa in Mullumbimby. The same Mullumbimby referred to in Netflix series Ozark – well worth watching, by the way. I played around in the spas, sauna, steam room and plunge pool for about an hour, and then had an hour and a half massage.

When I woke up the next day, I felt slimmer. I mean, my belly felt slimmer. When I Continue reading “Experimenting with a Keto Diet – Blog#12”

Day 16

It’s Day 16 of my Keto Diet.

Energy

I worked last night. My started my shift at 5.30pm, and my co-workers asked how my Diet was going.

Rodrigo was there. We usually work together on Sundays. He’s the man who, unwittingly, was part of the inspiration for me starting this blog. I chatted about my Diet, and my blog, as I often do these days because it’s a significant part of my life at the moment. Thanks again Rodrigo for your inspiration!

I told him Continue reading “Experimenting with a Keto Diet – Blog#8”

Beginnings

I started a Keto Diet at breakfast on the 21st October 2018.

Leading up to this date, long before any commitments to start it had been made, I began mentioning to people that I wanted to try it, and I did some online searches about the diet, foods to eat, and recipes.

What I knew, or thought I knew, at this point was:

  1. A Keto Diet could be used for fat loss;
  2. Fat loss could be extreme and rapid;
  3. Ketosis was the name for the process of metabolising fats, and that ketones were produced;
  4. Ketosis could be measured with strips that you urinate on, which I knew as keto sticks. My mum had done some sort of Keto Diet using supplements many years ago;
  5. There were health benefits purported about eating ketogenically;
  6. Ketones could be toxic to the body.

Some of the things I read and heard in this period were:
